Paola to Present Four Workshops at WAMED 2007 |
I am thrilled to teach at the upcoming WAMED festival in Perth, Australia xthis June. For more information, visit Keti’s site at |
I will be presenting four workshops; see below. |
Water Movement |
Exploring the physical, emotional and spiritual properties of water. I have developed several sequences that use undulations, arms, and mayas to express the flowing continuity of this element. They can be linked together as a full choreography, or used interchangeably as a moving meditation. |
Balkan Gypsy |
Using Balkan Kolo steps as a way to structure a fun, non-threatening group belly dance in a circle! Taking liberally from my Macedonian heritage, I’ve put together a lively, fun, and easy-to-learn dance perfect for haflas or parties. All levels. |
Tchiftetelli |
Using Duncan Dance principles, an evocative Tchiftetelli that reaches for the Earth, stars and soul. Geometric Shapes, poignant gestures, and mythic imagery combine in a piece full of emotional complexity. |
Arabo-Flamenco |
Fusing steps learned in Flamenco with Raqs Sharqi in a lively dance to “Salama Ya Salama” performed by Alabina. Skirt-swishing, proud postures, and dramatic sequences illustrate this lovely song dedicated to the cause of Peace. |
