Morocco ’s workshops will all be held in spacious Studio 5 of the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center in Sentul. Take a look below at what she’s offering on her very first stop in Asia!

Friday, May 25:

“Ahlam, the Dream” – to the haunting violin of Georges Lammam, a beautiful, romantically feminine, and dramatic choreography. Bring out your expressive goddess. Two 1/2 hours, 7-10 PM, Studio 5, KLPAC. Fee: RM 140.

Saturday, May 26:

1) Raks al Assaya - authentic Upper Egypt (Saiidi) Women’s Cane Dance. Please bring your own cane. Showy combinations will add new life to your cane-dance repertoire – maximum technique in an excellent, compact choreography. Three hours, 10 AM-1PM, Studio 5, KLPAC. Fee: RM 140.

Lunch from 1 PM- 2 PM

2) ”El Samer” - Short Oriental with zills – Learn zills with the master! Morocco’s peppy, fast-paced Oriental will offer the perfect way to accompany your moves with finger cymbals. Two hours. 2-4:00 PM, Studio 5, KLPAC. Fee: RM 140.

Short break – 15 min

3) Guedra – the trance ritual of blessing of the Tuaregs (Blue People of the Sahara). Morocco will tell the story behind this mysterious ritual and will offer movements and techniques to make it your own. One and a half hours. 4:15 to 5:45 PM, Studio 5, KLPAC. Fee: RM 75.

Sunday May 27:

“Mach Mach” - The Moroccan Schikhatt is a city folk/traditional dance, done at pre-wedding parties (first the women’s parties, then often at the men’s as well). It’s a type of social dance that also educates the bride-to-be on matters of connubial bliss. This is a modern, more upbeat version of Schikhatt, done with 2 soft scarves or hankies or a long, narrow scarf. 12:30-2:30 PM, Studio 5, KLPAC. Fee: RM 140
