Yalla Bina! is a school dedicated to the pursuit of Middle Eastern Dance, or Raqs Sharqi. It is led by dance scholar Paola Blanton - an international performer and teacher who came to Malaysia in 2003 and began the first organized MED program.
We are proud to offer a well-researched, articulate,
lovingly taught program complete with a step-by step
syllabus, strategies, assessment, and enrichment workshops.
Musicality, culture, and technique all combine with
years of experience to offer the Malaysian audience
the most complete experience in this wonderful art.
At Yalla Bina!, we believe education
never stops. Our world traveler Paola continues to make her mark on the world of dance in arenas such as the WAMED festival to which she has been invited to teach again in 2008. This is also her fourth year in pursuit of Isadora Duncan's sublime dance wisdom. Additionally, she is now drawing on the rich heritage of her homeland Macedonia with her newest research project, "In Search of Chochek, Balkan Gypsy Brass", which aims to bring the ecstatic joy of Ottoman-inspired Balkan Gypsy music to the World Music and Dance scene.
Paola is unique in her approach to dance in that she seeks the Universal - that which transcends cultural boundaries even as it pays homage to the vital genealogies that have inspired so many artists before her. Come and experience the dance as taught by a visionary - be drawn in by Paola's unequaled passion and creativity and immerse yourself in an environment that will challenge you to romance your own Muse and discover your deepest, most passionate and creative depths.
